Online is the condition of being connected to a computer or a telecommunications system. In online mode, generated data records are directly transferred to the computer. If a registration record cannot be transferred to the computer, the terminal automatically switches to offline mode. After set-up of the connection, the terminal dynamically switches back into online mode and the computer collects the registration records.
