With a RP 485 repeater the maximum length of the data line (RS 485) can be extended. The number of terminals on the RS 485 interface can be extended by another 30 terminals max. The repeater can also change from two-wire to four-wire partyline and vice versa. This has the advantage to be able to use also old / default physical bus topologies in case of emergency.
