B-COMM® Java

A communication program for all solutions

The IT structures of companies use a wide range of hardware platforms, network technologies, operating systems, and software applications. The organizational sequences are often supplemented by data collections systems for access control, time and attendance, and shop floor data collection. The new communication program B-COMM Java has been developed for integrating these collection sequences into the IT structures. Programmed in modern Java architecture, it allows communication between the collection terminals and the software applications, independently of the computer or operating system platforms.

The partner’s big advantage of this feature that the entire system has to be programmed only once and can still be used on all platforms. The use of B-COMM requires a Java runtime environment 1.4.2. or higher. Another useful feature is that individual B-COMM modules and the software applications can be installed on different computers.

By using UNICODE, B-COMM Java is prepared for processing all internationally known fonts and can thus be used worldwide. B-COMM Java replaces all previous B-COMM communication programs, except B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP.

The optional modules CardLink and Biometrics allow future-oriented technologies to be used in access control and for person identification.

Functions of B-COMM Java and its modules

The selection of the required B-COMM Java modules depends on the desired solution.
The modules at a glance:

  • B-COMM Server
Provides all objects and methods and manages the complete configuration of the overall system. To do so, it will communicate with all modules and the application of the partner via RMI (Remote Method Invocation).
  • B-COMM I/O
It is the communication module for data exchange between the terminals and the software application(s) and forwards the data in both directions depending on the requirements. All data records and activities are logged.
  • B-COMM Helper
It is the interface between B-COMM Java and the applications of the partner not programmed in Java and thus not RMI-capable. This module converts the TCP/IP data structure to RMI and from RMI to TCP/IP.
  • B-COMM GUI
The module allows a graphic display of the management and configuration of the overall system. This includes users, clients, channels, network adapters, terminals and orders.

Options are:

  • Terminal Status module
Visual representation of the statuses of the individual terminals and channels.
  • CardLink module
CardLink makes it possible to link components of the online and offline access control to one another. The parameters required for the authorization to write on a data carrier are made available.
  • Biometric module
This module enables the use of biometric solutions. It manages the collected finger prints (finger templates) and passes them on to the connected biometric terminals.
  • AVISO module
This programming module can be used to create AVISO routines.
  • User management module
This module is used to define users having different rights for system administration.
  • Application interfaces module
This module is used for distributing different collection data, for example from access control, time and attendance, or SFDC, to the appropriate application programs in each case.
