Greater flexibility and interactivity:
AVISO routines permit customized solutions in corporate data collection

For applications with customer-specific requirements different from the standard, Kaba has developed the ‘AVISO Interpreter’, a tool that allows special functions/customized solutions to be achieved that are not possible by means of standard parameterization of the terminals or control units. In the access control environment, this tool has already been successfully in use for some years. Examples of typical applications are elevator and sally port controls, the connection of balances or the control of intrusion detection systems. The AVISO Interpreter allows customer-specific programming of complete sequences or configurations, without the disadvantages of having to accept special programs. Only the enhancements or changes are programmed. The terminal can then profit from all further enhancements. Kaba will now also apply the tried-and-tested system of the AVISO routines to time recording and shop floor data collection.

Whereas a time recording terminal has up to now primarily recorded the work times of employees, additional functions and data input can be realized via the routines, without the need to create special solutions for this. For instance, employees can change their personal PIN code, request personal information and have this displayed, file (holiday) applications in a workflow process, etc. Extended display times (e.g. for disabled employees) can also be realized with this. Overall, the routines result in greater interactivity and flexibility in time management; they mean that enhancements to the standard can be realized, in addition to the high basic functionality of the Kaba Benzing systems.

In shop floor data collection, SFDC units are deployed in many companies to record events and to provide feedback on activities that have been commenced or concluded. The processing of events has not been a functional part of SFDC terminals up to now. The AVISO routines now incorporate new logic in the devices, allowing them to respond to events. This allows additional customer-specific programming of input and display dialogs. This opens up completely new options in progress monitoring, job feedback and monitoring, recording of machine set-up times or machine data collection and machine control. If, for example, the operation/standstill monitoring reports a standstill, the response can be, for example, to feed material to the machine. The flexible structure of the recording dialogs now allows companies, for example, to report many small orders quickly and simply all at once or to ensure that warning lights are controlled.

The AVISO routines are already used successfully in the access control sector. Thus, they allow, for example, individual access to authorized floors in elevator control to be regulated. It is also possible to control an alarm system via an AC system. The system can be switched on and off via a PIN code at a sub-terminal. In the sally port sector, the AVISO routine allows an extended sally port function with three and more doors. In the cafeteria, a meal voucher can be printed out by connecting a  printer to an access manager. For pocket searches, a random personnel selection can be carried out, which will deny access to a certain percentage of employees. A parking lot control will check the authorizations upon entry and count the entry and exit of vehicles. A relay is pulled in when the parking lot is full to activate a traffic light and reject non-preferred persons.
