Kaba’s New Biometric Fingerprint Terminals Combine Security with Comfort 

The increasing use of biometrics is caused especially by increased security requirements and needs. Based on its long experience, Kaba has now developed the next generation of biometric terminals, which combine high security with comfort and user-friendliness. 

The new biometric identification unit guarantees stable use and fast response times. The module features an internal database for 500 (optionally up to 3,000) employees. The employees’ fingerprint data is stored in the reader. The collection process is simple and fast. When a person requests access or wants to record his/her working time, he/she first selects the required function and is then asked to identify him/herself.  

Touching the sensor briefly with the finger is sufficient. The booking is accepted as soon as the corresponding template has been found in the database. The entire identification process takes less than a second and does not require a badge. If a person cannot be detected biometrically, he/she can identify him/herself via the PIN code. 

The biometric reader module can be integrated in almost all Kaba Benzing terminals and used for access control and time recording. At the CeBIT, the new biometric terminal B-Net 91 20 FP and the new biometric time recording terminal B-Net 93 20 CBM will be presented. The B-Net 91 20 FP is a subterminal, which is controlled by an access manager. 

The independent time recording terminal B-Net 93 20 CBM is a scalable device, offering many options to the user. Small and compact in size and optically attractive, the terminal is suitable in particular for small- and medium-sized time recording solutions, for which a graphic display with a resolution of 240 x 40 pixels is sufficient for information display. The terminal can also be used commercially and in subsidiaries of larger enterprises. It can store 200 master records and 4,000 booking records. As an option, more master records are possible, for example 1,000 master records and 4,000 booking records or 2,000 master records and approx. 8,000 booking records. Owing to its protection class of IP 54 and the optional heater, it is also suitable for outdoor installation.
