60,000 key profiles for greater security 

With Silca and Ilco, the Kaba Group is the world's leading manufacturer of key blanks. Metal key blanks and blanks with plastic heads are made at production facilities in the USA, Italy and Mexico – at an average rate of 32 per second or 732,000,000 per year. These are used to make the keys which are sold in stores. Silca has around 50,000 different types of keys on offer, which it sells in Europe, Asia and Southern America. And then there are around 10,000 types which Ilco produces in the United States and sells in North America, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Most of the first-stage production, using durable brass and nickel silver for subsequent manufacture into blanks, takes place internally at Rocky Mount (North Carolina, USA), providing quality control at every stage. 

Silca and Ilco also supply special key blanks with integrated transponders to the motor industry. Vehicles cannot be started until activated by the right transponder, which is incorporated into the head of the key. 

State-of-the-art key production equipment 

With the Silca and Ilco product lines, the Kaba Group is also the world's number-one manufacturer of mechanical, electronic and industrial key cutting and code machines and key duplicators. Using special software, keys can be produced automatically in computerized machines. The selection of designs and measurements is carried out electronically, as is the actual cutting process. Semi-industrial equipment thus combines the flexibility of a building block system with the precision of electronic control. 

Kaba offers the most comprehensive range of key duplicators and code machines worldwide and is thus able to provide the right product for practically any requirement in the key production business. Key duplicators for the North American, Central American, Mexican and Australian markets are manufactured by Ilco at its Rocky Mount site. The other markets are served by products manufactured in Italy (Vittorio Veneto).
