Multi-skilled mechanic
Is this for you?
As a multi-skilled mechanic you will produce components from metal and plastic, depending on your field of activity. In addition, you will use modern drilling, turning and milling machines, many of which are computer controlled, as well as many other machine tools. You will carry out projects as part of a team with a range of specialists: you will look for design solutions, build prototypes and test these. As the parts must be very accurate, you will have to plan your work extremely well and work with a very high level of concentration. As a multi-skilled mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting the parts and modules with regard to their function and quality.
Vocational school
In the G profile you will attend a vocational school twice a week during the 1st year of your training, and once a week during the remaining years. In the E profile you will attend a vocational school two days a week during the 1st and 2nd years of your training. From the 3rd year you will have compulsory lessons one day a week and one further day of lessons in the optional subjects you have personally selected.
Your training course with us
You will spend the first six months at the Oberland Training Centre ("azo" for short) in Uster, where you will learn how to operate conventional machine tools. Following this, you will receive training in our testing workshop. During in-house periods of work experience in the Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering departments, you will broaden your knowledge in the fields of electrotechnology and control technology, welding and soldering, as well as learning how to use a CAD program.
