Is this for you?

In order to deal safely with galvanic baths, you must understand physical properties and chemical reactions. You immerse the objects in a metallic salt solution (electrolyte). Due to the effect of a electrical direct current, the surfaces are coated with chrome, zinc, nickel, copper, silver or gold. The layers have different functions and protect against corrosion, increase the resistance to wear or the level of hardness, improve conductivity and solderability or are used to enhance the appearance of the objects. As a Surface Coating Technician you will work independently or in a team and will be characterised by your reliability.

Vocational school

Throughout all three years of your training, you will attend a vocational school once a week. Your learning will focus on the subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Applied Mathematics and Working Processes.

Your training course with us

You will learn how to refine metals using chrome, nickel, zinc, copper, silver and gold, starting from the very basics. This includes suspending the parts on special frames and setting up the different baths. In a range of work experience periods with partner companies, you will learn further surface coating processes and become familiar with different corporate cultures.

  • Requirements: "A" or "B" secondary school, good grades in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. You enjoy dealing with chemicals.
  • Duration: 3 years
  • Award upon completion: Surface Coating Technician with Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency
